How Does Adoption Work?
With open adoption, you make the choices. You can choose your baby’s adoptive parents, pick what type of contact you want after the adoption, and even decide how things go at the hospital. If you need help with pregnancy expenses, let us know. Besides getting help with your expenses, you can receive maternity clothes, counseling, toiletries, and more. You can call and learn more without any pressure or obligation. Your coordinator will walk you through every step of the way and is always available to you by phone or text.
We can meet with you in person or send you information so you can start the basic paperwork and view waiting families. You’re able to speak with the adoptive family so you can get to know them before making your decision. When you have your baby, the family will travel to your town. This allows your baby will be discharged from the hospital directly to the adoptive parents you chose. A day or two later, you will meet with an attorney and sign the final adoption papers. There is no cost to you at all.
If you’re already parenting a child, the adoption process is similar. You will come together with the family you have chosen along with your child. Lifetime’s adoption coordinators are here to will create a transition plan that you feel comfortable with.
