When Adriana contacted Lifetime Adoption, she was 18 and getting ready to start college in the Fall. We want to share her words here, so you know that you’re not alone as you face this situation:
“Trust me, I’ve been there and know what you’re going through. I found out after school…I was pregnant! I panicked! I hadn’t planned on this happening. I was way too young to be having a baby.
My friends and family were pressing me everywhere I turned, telling me what to do. I was really confused and overwhelmed. I needed time to think it all out.
Would an abortion really make everything the way it was before? It would be life-changing…Would having a child now ruin my future?
There were really only two choices, I thought. I couldn’t ever go back to the way things were before no matter what my decision was.
I wanted to do the right thing…the best choice for me, for my baby.
I had to work through my fears.
The truth was hard.
Where could I find the right answer?
Who could help me?
The options were confusing and scary at first.
I realized that I was really already a mother, and I had to decide for my baby.
I struggled with each option then a friend of a friend said she had chosen adoption for her baby. It was right for her… was this the right decision for me too? I was stronger and focused.
My choice in selecting the adoptive parents to adopt my baby brought me the chance to make things right.
It wasn’t all easy, but it felt that way for me, I had support, I had a peace about adoption that felt right.
Help was there for me.
It was a choice I could live with.
I didn’t know adoption could be like this. I didn’t know I’d have so many choices with adoption!”
