Adoption Process Florida – Start An Adoption Plan

Adoption Process Florida

We are often asked “How do I put my baby up for adoption?” First, you are choosing a loving adoptive family to adopt your baby. You are creating a life for your child that will be full of love and a promise of a great future. The Lifetime Adoption team in our Florida adoption agency will work with you on your adoption plan. They will let you know what your options are and guide you through the decisions you get to make for yourself and your baby.

Now…let’s get started!

Here are the steps to making an adoption plan:

  1. Call or text our Florida adoption agency, 24 hours a day at 1-800-923-6784 to let us know that you’re considering adoption. We’ll provide you with information on open adoption and what your options are. Our caring adoption coordinators are also here to answer any of your questions. If you prefer, you can complete the adoption information online.
  2.

  3. Next, your adoption coordinator will collect your information. You only need to share what you are comfortable with.
You can view our waiting adoptive families. Your coordinator may send you specific families open to adopting your baby. If you prefer not to choose a family yourself, our coordinator will choose a family she feels is the right fit for you and your child.
  4.

  5. You will determine which adoptive family is your first, second, and third choice. Let your coordinator know which families you would like to meet or speak with. You can even text or email if that is more comfortable for you.
  6.

  7. Once you choose a family and you both feel it is a good match, you will move on to your hospital plan and your contact agreement for after the adoption is final.

Lifetime Adoption offers licensed and confidential counseling provided by an outside counselor. There are also peer counselors if you would like to speak to someone who has been where you are.

If you’d like to take advantage of this free counseling, please text or call our Florida adoption agency at 1-800-923-6784 and let us know. Counseling is offered via email, in-person, or over the phone.

If you’re pregnant, we’ll need you to submit a proof of pregnancy. You can get started with the adoption paperwork. If your child’s father is involved in the adoption plan, please ask him to complete these birth father questions.

If you are in Florida, please complete our Florida Adoption Disclosure Form.
